On the one hand, I want to try :fedora: #Fedora31 on my tower. Really digging it on my laptop.

On the other hand, my tower uses #Nvidia graphics, and I've had trouble with #Fedora + Nvidia in the past. :debian: #Debian just works.

Before I forget and before the weekend ends, I'm going to update my remaining #Fedora box to #Fedora31. Chatting with my sons in the meantime as the box performs any pending updates before beginning the upgrade.

Heh, completely forgot I was upgrading this box until I turned and saw this screen. As you can see, it's an older HP xw4300 workstation. Looks like it's nearly done, but as I addressed in yesterday's toot about this particular screen, I need more info as I don't know which part of Stage 2 this is at. 😕⁉️ #fedora31 #fedora #linux

So I installed #Fedora31 :fedora: on my #Thinkpad last night, and I got to thinking :thinking:

Not enough love and attention is given to most modern Linux distro installers. It is really nice how easy and fast you can get a system installed and running.

Not counting the time it took to back up my system, download the ISO, and flash to a USB drive, the whole Fedora install took all of 10 minutes. #Ubuntu :ubuntu:, #Debian :debian:, #Manjaro :manjaro: are all about the same.

OK, so while the new upgrade screen is good, it needs to provide more information. After the progress bar hit 100%, it started back to 0%. I assumed it was doing cleanup and verifying the packages. This should be mentioned in the upgrade screen. Ex: After it finished upgrading packages and begins cleanup and verification, the "Upgrading System" text should change to signify what's being done, something like "Cleaning Up Files..." and "Verifying Upgrade...". Just sayin'. #Fedora31 #Fedora

Got back to my office and noticed that the upgrade screen indifferent from before. It's actually more informative than it used to be, which is a great improvement. The only thing is that it looks like a Windows 10 upgrade screen. 😆 :fedora: #fedora31 #fedora

#Upgraded my system to #Fedora31 overnight. I was thinking of upgrading it this weekend but I’ll need my #laptop at that time. Almost everything looks OK but I suppose I will have to wait until the #Jami #repository becomes available for #F31.
