I've posted the transcript of my talk at Akademy 2023: https://tim.siosm.fr/blog/2023/08/11/testing-latest-kde-kinoite/
This is the result of a multi-year effort by a lot of folks in the KDE and Fedora communities to make testing KDE software easier for our users.

@kde is way more powerful than I thought it was..
It's compatible, modular and full of very useful features!
On my previous installations I'd use third-parties for certain tasks, such as #LatteDock and #Conky. This time though, on my #FedoraKinoite installation, I went with the built-ins and I can proudly say they are awesome! You can do anything you want, Plasma is packed with countless features.

Interested in making a new rpm-ostree desktop variant available in Fedora to join Silverblue, Kinoite, Sericea and Onyx?
Then you may take a look at this guide: https://tim.siosm.fr/blog/2023/06/21/rpm-ostree-variants-fedora/

can any #fedora #linux users help me learn how to make an akmod?
there's a driver I need for #LinuxGaming purposes that isn't packaged anywhere, I don't want to rebuild it from source every week, and #FedoraKinoite doesn't support dkms, but I can't figure out how to do it or find any helpful resources

Fedora 38 has just been released! 🎉
Let's look at what's new in Fedora Kinoite 38: https://tim.siosm.fr/blog/2023/04/19/whats-new-fedora-kinoite-38/
The article also includes a sneak peak at what's coming next and our future (secret) projects!

Could you have the same benefits by just addin @kdesig/kde or @kdesig/kdebeta COPR repos?
I would just keep the regular KDE repo, or is that unnessecary?
Also there is a way to restore the COPR command which would be great to have in Kinoite by default.

Awesome work! I have the feeling Discover tries to update even though manual rpm-ostree is already finished. Dont know for sure.
I can say for sure using rpm-ostree and flatpak through Packagekit is pretty unstable. It would be awesome for newcomers to just use it, and I think it somewhat works but maybe sorting the tasks flatpak>rpm-ostree would help?
Anyways, great work!
Heads up for everyone that tried Kinoite Beta: It will not receive updates anymore now that Plasma 5.27 has been released. You should switch back to the main official Fedora 37 branch once 5.27 lands in stable, which should happen really soon.
@opensuse @libristescg @kde Hello! Well now, this sounds very interesting indeed, t/y! I already have #FedoraKinoite on my VM testing ToDo list, so now i shall excitedly also add this.
Since becoming a happy #ArchLinux penguin in 2019, i stopped watching oS, hence hadn't heard of this innovation.
But... oS truly must *eliminate* D/H in #Leap & #TW! It was a *horrible* frequent problem for me in TW, also Leap. I *never* have it in ANY Arch or Arch-derivative. #FedoraBranched also good.
🤷♀️

Introducing Kinoite Nightly (and Kinoite Beta): https://tim.siosm.fr/blog/2023/01/20/introducing-kinoite-nightly-beta/
Just in time for KDE Plasma 5.27 Beta release, we've made unofficial variants of Fedora Kinoite available to make it easier to test Beta and Nightly KDE software.

Being able to rebase #FedoraSilverblue into #FedoraKinoite with a single command feels like magic. That said, while I am enjoying some aspects of #KDE, I can't deny the paper cuts are starting to get quite annoying...
I just hope the Valve money is able to improve the quality and polish of this desktop.
