I'll second the advice about writing flash fiction. Try several formats, too, 50 words, 500 words, 1000 words.

The different restraints will help you see what you are doing, as opposed to what you want to do (which is what all writing issues boil down to) It will all help you sharpen your style.

Also, #FeedbackFriday is great, do it.

@NaClKnight It's hard to know without seeing some of your work, but one thing I tell clients is to avoid detours. Stay on the straight path of character development and story arc (if we're talking about fiction). Happy to take a look at something shortish though if it would help. Or share a piece with #FeedbackFriday next week.
