...and the #Feedbro #RSS #Web #Browser add-on is no longer accessing #Twitter feeds again. I've been using the same Feedbro version 4.15.6 for a few weeks now. Twitter continues to toggle on/off public access to user profiles so it has become an unreliable feed source.

I won't mention the state of Twitter feeds in Feedbro again. However, I do recommend Feedbro for reading RSS feeds. Its settings have some complexity, but you'll figure it out (read through this thread) 👍

The Feedbro Web browser extension started picking up Twitter feeds again (it hasn't worked since June 30)... even though I still can't see Twitter profiles publicly through a Web browser - a login is still required. What wizardry is this?? 🧙🏻‍♂️

J'ai redécouvert il y a quelques mois le plaisir de gérer ma propre collection de fils #RSS, dans le souci de me passer de Google News et autres applis "fermées".

Je n'utilise donc que des applis opensource pour lire mes news chaque matin. Le plug-in #FeedBro sur mon ordi, et sur mon smartphone, mon coeur balance entre deux applis, Feeder et Read You. J'exporte régulièrement ma collection en archives OPML. Mes données ne sont plus "captives" d'une appli en particulier et ça fait du bien.

Great news! 👀 A few weeks ago, I asked the Feedbro devs if they could enhance their Web browser plugin to better handle Mastodon RSS feeds, and the latest version 4.15.6 is already improving the Mastodon experience by displaying article titles! 👍

Now, I can finally make Mastodon my primary social media platform and use Feedbro to observe news from sources yet to migrate away from Twitter. Over time, I'll better categorize the feeds in Feedbro and try to find actual RSS alternatives to the Twitter feeds. The best Feedbro feature is that I can export the entire feed list and eventually share it with others! ✌ 😁

I completed migrating my #Twitter feeds into #Feedbro! 🥳 🎈

At the end of 2022, I consolidated my multiple Twitter accounts into one final account and combined my "Following" list entries which dated back to 2009, for a total of 2469 entries. Over the last month, I pruned all "Following" entries not posting in a year or longer, which was 424 of them. I was left with 2045 accounts I was "Following". 17% of the accounts I followed on Twitter had become defunct! 👀

I find this metric of interest.

To help speed up my #Twitter --> #Feedbro feed migration, I located a free portable macro recorder / playback app named #TinyTask

While Twitter makes it insanely difficult to easily migrate any user account data (even the downloaded archives only have links with account IDs and not account names), the ability to record and playback mouse movement and click interactions makes the repetitive #TwitterMigration task more manageable.

💡 Interesting Factoid:

So far, I've manually reviewed 550 accounts I follow on Twitter to move the feeds into Feedbro.

Approx. 30% of these accounts haven't posted in over a year or more, so I deleted them.

I suppose this is why Twitter doesn't display recent activity metrics - users have been inactive on Twitter for years... and have even removed the Twitter logo/link from their main Web sites. 👀

I just logged back in for the day. The number and intensity of aftershocks in the region is unimaginable. I believe close to 3,000 people have been killed.

I started tracking #earthquake feeds about a month ago, since I thought it would be helpful when I travel to California, USA. I even installed the #QuakeAlert app on my phone (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.ewl.quakealert&hl=en_US&gl=US).

While viewing my #Feedbro feeds last night, including @QuakeAlerts and @USGS_Quakes from Twitter, I noticed the large magnitudes in #Turkey.

As more people are finding my posts about the Feedbro plugin, I want to show you one helpful modification you can make once you get your feeds added and organized. You can configure the plugin to open the "All Items" feeds category directly by pressing the Feedbro icon. This makes accessing your feeds quicker.

@ticoombs That was one of several i considered, but for reasons i've long forgotten, it didn't make my cut. I use #Feedbro with occasional swap to #SmartRSS [which i like better in many ways, but its chronic necro-refetching drives me bonkers].

I installed #feedbro on Firefox and added my list to it. I don't have to open Twitter anymore.

So after months of thinking to myself "I should ask my tech friends what #RSS reader they recommend" and forgetting about it, I decided to just go to #Firefox addons and install the first thing that comes up on search for RSS.

So I guess I'm using #FeedBro now? 😝
