@N0ZB @ingalls @thebaldgeek Hellschreiber is magnificently silly. The Noble Mode we call it.
There's an international club and several weekly nets, btw. https://sites.google.com/site/feldhellclub/

#FeldHell is a good mode, maybe the best of modes, and no good mode ever dies
#Feldhell or #Hellschreiber is an early system of ingenious simplicity to transmit writing via land line or radio. It saw use in WW II, but was developed by Rudolf Hell well before that time, patented in 1929. See https://www.nonstopsystems.com/radio/hellschreiber-function-operation.htm for an excellent description.
@dj3ei @M0YNG @ei8kd @Katy @W1CDN @g0dub I get what you are saying for sure - I don't participate in contests because it has no appeal for me, and they don't want to converse beyond the minimum to qualify for a qso. I'll make the time to give you an accurate RST, and ask you about the weather every time, and what your dog's name is, that's how my station rolls. It's why I prefer PSK31, #feldhell , and CW - it's a more relaxed, conversational pace. I'm a #slowroast operator :)
Hams: you know you're bored with FT8. Fire up your favorite digi-mode software like fldigi, set to hellschreiber mode, and make a contact today for the Feld Hell Club sprint. #FeldHell is fun.
When you're the only one on earth monitoring #Hellschreiber for the #FeldHell club sprint: https://pskreporter.info/pskmap?preset&callsign=ZZZZZ&what=all&mode=HELL&timerange=900&showsnr=1&mapCenter=36.27133711096624,-87.37132791841657,2.4105323674968218
@k5dru Yes there was! Made my first couple #feldhell QSO's, I am delighted. Still figuring out the relationship between my wide/narrow filter and where I transmit, I wouldn't have heard anyone except I flipped to wide filter briefly, and there they were. I think i was sending at 14.0735, not 14.072 as I intended
