Almost a month after diagnosis with #FelineDiabetes he is still waiting for his #insulin... and wasting away. Sleeping now. He's at 4.6 kg weight (once he got up to 6 kg, when he was healthy). There were complications from an infection with E. coli (now that is cleared.) Still, it's a #caturday !

Insulin comes next week, for sure.

The browning of his gray fur is an indication of a metabolic disorder, in Wolf Boom Zoom's case, both diabetes and IBD. It can also be an indication of a lack of meat in a cat's diet, but this cat eats nothing but rabbit (because of his diabetes and IBD).

I was lying on the bed cuddling Ditto, the beautiful void in the back, when Wolf Boom Zoom, the gorgeous grey in front, just casually walked over and squeezed himself between us.

In Wolf Boom Zoom's defense, his IBD has flared up and he's really miserable. The only thing that offers any relief is long belly rubs, lots of cuddles, and the undivided attention of his humans.

Wolf Boom Zoom is happy to be home after a morning trip to the vet. Also, his whiskers are marvelous!

He's not feeling too good which is sometimes just the case when you are an older cat with both diabetes and IBD. So we will be trying a few new things to see if we can help him feel a bit more comfortable.

#Caturday PSA: Diabetes in cats can have the oddest symptoms. Our boy stopped retracting his rear claws, then slowly started losing control of hind limbs. We lost two months of therapy time with the vet chasing non-existent spinal injuries, nerve damage and other best guesses, even did a full MRI, until we figured out what it was after he went into shock. On a steady dose of insulin, he's now far outlived his initial prognosis and is almost back to normal.
