I’ll post about things related to my research interests: mostly family demography, sociology & social policy, quantitative & feminist research and sometimes other stuff. Currently at UCL working on assisted reproduction research & teaching quant methods. On the job market. , ,

In conclusion, we develop suggestions for enabling sysadmin work based on (a) related work, (b) participants’ inputs & (c) authors’ insights.

We recommend more care for care work itself and those performing it, and using feminist lenses to study sysadmin work in the future.

We found that they manage their work by being excellent in their profession, taking gender into account (double invisibility and gender inauthenticity) & finding community.

We found that sysadmins who belong to marginalized genders perform extra layers of care work that is not expected from men.

Also, we found that hostile non-inclusive workplaces elsewhere inhibit career advancement in inclusive environments due to one ‘feeling stuck’.
