Feeling sad that one of my extensive collection of viscose harem pants from Femme Connection shrank in the wash.

I first started buying pants in this style in 2014. Now I own eight pairs: same size and cut; different colours and prints.

I am not tall, so when the pants are new, the legs tend to be quite blousy above the ankle elastic. But now the legs on these ones are too short and sit above my ankles.

I washed them in a front-loading machine on a 40°C cottons setting and dried them on a rack in my bathroom. The shrinkage is my fault as the care tag says 'cold hand wash separately'.

I also feel that the viscose on different pairs I own has different qualities: on some pants it feels very soft, almost like cheesecloth, and on others it feels smooth and silky. This can't fully be explained by the number of wears or washes the garment has had.

I wonder if different batches of fabric come from different weaving companies or the viscose production process was different.

Femme Connection clothes are cheap and trendy fast fashion but the house 'label' is Caroline Morgan. I've always assumed it's an importer of Indian-made fast fashion.

Here are the pants in question as advertised at Femme Connection, although the site has styled them in a horrible way.
