Two great meetings today to prepare further for the #FEMS #microbiology Congress in Hamburg in July 2023. We’re looking to give a lot of support and opportunities to participate for #ECR early career researchers. Next on the #FEMS ‘to do’ list is making decisions on the move to #OpenAccess #publishing.

Communities are so important! However, often it’s really not easy and straight forward to get them together, but when it works it boosts everything! Looking forward to the #FEMS Board meeting in Delft. We have major decisions to make on moving some #FEMS journals to open access. These are such difficult decisions for academic organisations like FEMS, as we use all the income from publishing to support the #microbiology community across Europe and beyond. We need to think about how we can run massive Congresses and pay out hundreds of thousands of euros per year to support early career researchers to attend conferences and visit other labs.
