My traditional Christmas ham, cooked in cider with cinnamon, clove, cardamom, star anise, allspice, orange, lemon and apple is on the stove, filling the air with spicy deliciousness. Sadly I can’t eat it now, but hopefully everyone else will. Putting this on to cook is really when the festive season starts in our family.

This is 1 of 4 bags in my freezer. Each contains either 24 or 36 PIBs. As it’s mum favourite, that’s over 100. We don’t have turkey or any other meat. We just have a pile of PIBs. Need to buy more. They stop selling them on 24th 😂

Going to throw this question out, since it feels like there might be people with good ideas here:

Does anyone have any great options for mains?

To be clear, the family vegetarian is me, I'm just struggling for inspiration. Some criteria:

- I'm a bit tired of nut roast, but if you have a really spectacular one, I'm listening.

- I don't like fruit of any kind in or near my savouries. That includes cranberries (but excludes tomatoes).

- It doesn't have to be vegan.

- Or healthy. It's Christmas. I don't want to eat cauliflower steak for my main.

- Not really into fake meat 'roasts'.

- Can totally be non-traditional.

Any cooks (or non-cooks) out there with brilliant recipes? Help, please? 😂

Went out and did all my errands. M&S had reduced so bought loads and gonna bung them in the freezer. Also the fruit & veg store had 5 Pink Lady 🍎 for a £1 so I bought 10. Made my day.

Initial swatch looks promising. Probably I will cast on this afternoon, since I finished a sweater yesterday. A lovely way to kick off the holiday season.

Cranberry sauce is done, stuffing is prepared, broth is simmering with the last herbs from the garden. The late autumn sun is shining, it's not too cold, and I have several days off work in a row. Life is good in this moment.
