In her last year of eligibility, Payge Dahmer of Nevada #FFA achieved a feat I only recall seeing at poultry/rabbit barn. At Thursday's Market #Lamb Contest, Dahmer's crossbred lamb earned Grand Champion, followed by her Hampshire claiming Reserve Grand Champion. This will be her third consecutive year placing entries into the Sale of Champions at the 121st #Missouri State Fair (#MSF121 ).

The 121st #Missouri State Fair's first major market contest took place Tuesday morning, as 28 pens each containing four chickens were judged.

#Centertown's Hayden Duncan, representing #Columbia #FFA, earned Grand Champion honors, his third top prize in the contest. Blake Gates of Cairo, last year's winner, picked up reserve. Both pens will go under the hammer at the Sale of Champions at the end of this year's fair. #MSF121

Triple-digit heat isn't deterring 4-H and #FFA members this weekend, as #equine contests again kick off competitions at the 121st #Missouri #StateFair (#MSF121 ) in #Sedalia. The fair itself won't officially open until August 10th, but several contests will take place before the first tickets are scanned at the gate.

That's the end to my herborizing today. It was a lovely day for a hike and I definitely got my 10,000 steps in! Joining #FFA in high school mumble years ago, I learned a lot about plants, but certainly not everything. It's fun to see what I still remember.
