This is how I put a rotation counter on my yarn swift. You can get these for about $13US. It consists of a small magnet, a wand that can detect the magnet, and the little digital screen which runs on one AA battery. The magnet is tucked into the underside of the part that rotates, and the wand is attached to the stationary nut with a strip of velcro. The counter remembers the last count even after you turn it off. #fiberart #yarn #spinning

Collaborating with my amazing wife on some stools. This is the first iteration (roughed out, not close to finished). Sugar maple seat, walnut legs, the cover is punch needle, inspired by petri dish mold.
I’m using a 80’s craftsman lathe for the legs. I have very little turning experience.

Finished combing out my balcony flax harvest and got a whopping 11 grams of fiber. That’s from 120g of seeds.

I bought 120g of much nicer flax fiber off Etsy for $10 (arriving soon!) so I can practice spinning and dyeing before I apply these techniques to my pathetic harvest!

Well that didn’t last long. I made it 3 days. Today I received an order of sock sets from Little Lionhead Knits which included one skein of a yarn I had wanted a sweater quantify for but was sold out when I placed the original order. Today I loved it so much I went to the site and it turns out… it’s back!!! So, I got this colorway called Granny Square Blanket. NOW I am on a yarn hiatus. I swear. i sewed this outfit to commemorate singapore’s 58th birthday, using last year’s national day decorations. i asked our local office whether i could have the banners if they no longer needed them and they very kindly saved me a huge bundle!
