27 (!!!) Colors

I've been knitting in the 1980ies, the decade of intarsia knitting. I've done quite a few of those patterns back then. But I don't think I ever went beyond maybe 15 different colors in any one project.

Kudos to anyone attempting this.

And yes, the palette of Holst is gorgeous.

Best laid plans ...

I'm knitting a top down yoked garment. I've done that before, I've calculated that before, I know about the percentage system and I know it works for me.

Then when I got to the point where the sleeves are divided on a whim I cast on only half of the amount I had calculated.

Why? Don't know.

Of course it doesn't work.

Good thing I realized that 3 rounds in ... More ripping.

Yarn chicken ... Lost.

Maybe 200 stitches need to be knit. Need to wait until we're home to find some suitable yarn to finish that.

A case of yarn chicken.

There are about 9 g yarn left and I need to knit about 40 more rounds until the toe starts.

But considering how much I already knit (the leg alone is about 170 rounds), that should work out. I'm still a bit nervous and don't want to work on that ...

New #spinning project.

This fiber had been sitting in my stash for a little over 4 years. It's handdyed Corriedale from one of my favorite local dyers - Frau Wöllfchen. And Corriedale is one of my favourite fibers, so easy to spin, especially for fluffy woolen yarns.

I've inherited this spinning wheel, which I think is an Orkney wheel. It needs some restoration, but if anyone reading this has any hints/tips/advice on starting my spinning journey I'd be much obliged.

The wheel is broad compared to most wheels I've seen online and I would love to know why.

Ends need weaving

All #knitting and all sewing is done, but a lot of ends are still waiting to be dealt with.

I usually weave ends in as I go, but I wanted to make sure everything works out work the seaming before I did it in this case: the yarn is sticky and feltable, picking out woven in ends would be a nightmare.

And then another turn in the washing machine to even out and settle the seams.

Everything knit.

Now it's laying out to dry before I close the seams. Haven't done it this way for a few years, but this pattern had a lot going on so I didn't want to rewrite. And as the yarn changes quite a bit after washing seaming after the fact seemed a good idea to avoid too tight or too loose seams.

Collar is still on the needles as the pattern stated to sew the live stitches to the neck line.

* A slit in the cuff, that will fall open when the seam is closed.
* Decreases before the sleeve cap starts.

I've never seen the latter, but it seems logical to do so on rather wide sleeves. It cuts bulk from the underarm and because of that will probably give a better fit. #dressmakers can maybe help me out here?
