Yep, we definitely need to raise the cap on FICA, the social security tax, so that the wealthy can contribute an equal share of their income, instead of just paying social security tax on their first $160,200 of income. It's real fun when you get past that $160,200, and boom your paycheck goes up by a whole lot, because above that amount you're not paying FICA.

The #economic cognitive dissonance we see and feel is due to 50 yrs of well-executed propaganda to make people believe that they fund the fed govt via #taxes and fees, including #FICA. To get ppl to accept #Austerity measures as necessary, to do our part to keep the country afloat.

In truth, as the sole currency issuer, the fed govt is self-funding and can never "go broke" in its own currency. Federal taxes have purpose, just not paying for govt programs. #MMT
