I'm writing my novel by hand because it's such a freeing experience. I will never stop banging on about this because it really has changed everything. It’s hard to explain how liberating it has been. I sit here with my $2 A4 notebook and my bright yellow Lamy pen, and I write. I let the words spew out. I don’t worry about whether they sound amazing. I don’t agonise over how the sentences are fitting together, I just write. I'm about 50k words in and it's so amazing to have this tactile object I can touch, run my fingers over, feel my own scribbles. 💛

As winter approaches I'm reminded of my ritual every few years, during winter, of re-reading Ursula K. LeGuin's, "The Left Hand of Darkness." The novel has aged well since I found it during high school or college years, and, as time goes by, I become more appreciative of the craftsmanship in her writing.

Wah I have just finished The Invisible Life of Addie LaRue and I’m heartbroken. I’ve spent 15 hours of my life listening in little chunks over several weeks, mainly at bedtime, and I was so, so invested in the story. It’s going to take me a while to get over it
