I didn't expect that the most surviving species after the #LaPalma volcano (#Canary Is) would be the #fig tree (#Ficus caria)! Their canopy (in green) emerge from ashes (most tree is below the ashes). #Pinus #canariensis in the background is not as healthy as the fig tree!.

Je partage aussi sur Mastodon. J'ai utilisé la technique du bouturage à l'étouffé.
* Couper des tiges de 15 cm ne laisser que la dernière feuille.
* Planter dans un pot de terreau et arroser un peu.
* Couper le fond d'une bouteille en plastique et recouvrir les boutures avec la bouteille.
* Attendre que des feuilles poussent.
* Rempoter.

Fig relish for tonight's swordfish. It's 100% free of fig wasps (Blastophaga psenes) because I sliced them all open and carefully removed the wasps. There were just two, both dead. Figs were from Ayala, Morelos, Mexico. #fig #wasps #insect #entomology #cooking #Ficus #nature #dinner

With the house in front of ours knocked down it’s easier to get an idea of some of the trees on our property. From left is a box elder maple (Acer negundo) in front of which are three olive trees. In the centre is a Tipuana (T. tipu) with another 25yo one on the right
The treetop visible at the back left is a ficus of which another is hidden behind the Tipuana on the right. The net effect is a 5 degree cooler microclimate
