Question for you #folkmusic and #fiddletunes people. There's a fiddle tune called "Democratic Rage Hornpipe." Goes like this:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k_5HT8rB1Y4&t=11s
(Except about twice that speed if it's for a contra.) It's quite well known, especially among people who have taken lessons from a fiddle-tunes-oriented teacher, because it's usually the first Bb tune they give you.
The question is, does anyone know how it got its name? Democrats have plenty to be enraged about currently, but was there something specific they were enraged about back whenever this was written? I've asked Mr. Google, but no joy.

Really fun concert last night at Hugh's Room Live (3030 Dundas West) featuring Allison Lupton Music with her amazing band of Andrew Collins #mandolin, fiddler Shane Cook, bassist Joe Philips, and guitarist Tony McManus. Lovely singing from Allison, and virtuoso musicianship from all the band. #folk #fiddletunes and a good dose of #Canadiana
