New on the Dinosaur Toy Blog. A plush Quetzalcoatlus (Field Museum, Wild Republic): https://dinotoyblog.com/quetzalcoatlus-field-museum-plush-wild-republic/
"...most of the toy features a very short coat of polyester fuzz, which is actually quite fitting for a pterosaur that was likely covered in hairlike pycnofibres in life."

@The_Augusto and I went to the #FieldMuseum yesterday and had a blast.
Out of sheer curiousity, I looked at membership for some of the #Chicago museums and they're like... the price of streaming services... 🤔 At least once you break them down on a per month cost.
I think becoming members of your local museums is a far more beneficial thing than paying for a streaming service. Just go to the #library to get your movies and music. And don't forget to support them too!

Next @BionomiaTrack dataset I'm working on will be
#FieldMuseum Insect, Arachnid & Myriapod collection. Looks like someone has been working on this as it's at 31%. I should be able to increase that easily if I can find living collectors #ORCIDs. #Wikidata #LinkedOpenData

That #FieldMuseum @BionomiaTrack dataset I was working on is now at 40%. That is, in #Bionomia 40% of the specimens in that dataset are now linked to either the #ORCID or the #Wikidata item for the collector or determiner of those specimens. It's now up to the FieldMuseum to decide whether they want to make use of that linking. #LinkedOpenData

So I'm heading to the #FieldMuseum while in Chicago next week and thought I'd spend time today working on their datasets in @BionomiaTrack First up is the Invertebrate Collection which is currently sitting at 14% complete. Pretty sure I can do better than that! #LinkedOpenData #Wikidata #ORCID

Today's Flickr photo with the most hits was taken in Chicago, at the Field Museum: Daspletosaurus

Had a relaxing time sketching at the Field Museum today with other artist friends. Used Affinity Photo on my iPad and focused on accurate color picking, paining with high opacity and not mixing or layering on the canvas.

WRITER FUEL: A “replica” sword that has been part of the collection at the Field Museum in Chicago for nearly a century is actually a 3,000-year-old artifact from the Bronze Age.

Most of you might not take note of the Four Maidens statues in the #FieldMuseum
Here they are. Please pardon my poor photographs of these beauties. We have: Natural Sciences holding a skull, Dissemination of Knowledge holding a child in one hand and a book in the other, Research holding a magnifying glass and specimen, and Recording who holds a tablet and quill.
This American #mastodon lower jaw was found near Chicago, and is on display at the #FieldMuseum. The mastodon was around 32 years old when it died, based on tooth eruption. #DailyMastodon #MastodonMonday #paleontology #fossil
