Sounds like Mongoose is going to do a Fifth Frontier War book, which is cool that it’ll make it accessible for a new generation of gamers. But I don’t buy Mongoose so it’s not for me.

Made a spreadsheet of the system defenses listed in the Fifth Frontier War board game. Now to try to puzzle out what makes certain systems have heavy defenses, and others none. Mostly looks like population is key, although strategic positioning also matters.

Since I’m expanding the scope of the game, there are a lot of systems I need to define. I’m only bothering for ones near a front.

@deinol That sounds fun. If you do run it I’d be up for it. I had a lot of fun hacking #TrillionCreditSquadron and #FifthFrontierWar’s mechanics together for the campaign mode in #PowerProjectionFleet.

I was thinking about using a loot number based on Population, Tech, and Importance of the target world. But then I remembered T5’s resources stat already factors all three of those in. So maybe a fleet raiding in a system gets Resources in loot each turn, but the Resources are temporarily degraded (-2) after each raid.

This will encourage the Vargr Admirals to keep moving, and eventually return home.

Thinking about Vargr in the Fifth Frontier War.

There are two fleets that attack the imperium, but are they trying to conquer worlds or just raid them? How long can they loot a system before their holds are full and they need to turn back?

Although since the war lasts several years they certainly have time to raid and retreat multiple times.

I spent way too much time this weekend making a spreadsheet of squadron counters for the Fifth Frontier War and assigning initial fleets. Still need to figure out what the Darrian and Aslan fleets look like.

Once I get all the info prepared I’ll probably start recruiting play by “email” admirals, but it’ll probably be a few weeks before I’m prepared.

Keep thinking about how I could run a Fifth Frontier War simulation, but I would ideally want to find 24 players to want to command fleets in a months long play-by-email campaign.

Each admiral would be in command of the ships in their fleet, and have only delayed information about other systems. It would be epic, but also probably insane.

Oh, and one player would be the young suns neutral Aslan fleet.
