There's something to be said about having a canon, in the sense of picking out the good stuff. I've just seen Casablanca at the cinema and it was a genuinely magnificent film. A film that despite the hundreds of parodies I've seen before, still packed an emotional punch - I came out getting WHY it's had so many parodies. Sometimes, classics are classics because they are just that good
