Nightwatching is circumstances and characters surrounding the creation of Rembrandt’s famous painting, Nightwatch which depicts a group portrait of militiamen. As usual in Greenaway fashion, stunningly neoclassical compositions and chiaroscuro are accompanied by plenty of nudity and sex, conspiracy and historical intrigue.
