How to find a new server?

Look around at the people you follow and interact with. Chances are, a lot of them are not on the same server as you are. Check out the local timelines of theirs, see if you like the vibe. Also, ask around.

Check out #FindAServer to see some options right away or take a look over at https://fedi.garden. They have a large curated list of servers to pick from.

Some servers (like ours) don't have fully open registrations and require manual approval of accounts. It's usually to protect from spammers (and worse, and it's very effective). Don't get that discourage you, just request an account, it's fine.

Every day is a good day to move from mastodon.social to a different server. There's very likely several out there that fit you much better and have far more effective moderation.

The more distributed people are the more resilient this entire network is against corporate interests, like what happened to Twitter. If you moved here from post-Musk-Twitter, it's honestly in your own interest to not just stay on mastodon.social.

A smaller server also means you can get in touch with the people who run it and have an active influence on the overall vibe there.
