There are a couple of things about his guitar playing that impress me.
One is his #FingerPicking on his early stuff which is very good. The other is his ability to sing slightly out of time with his playing, or to start singing a touch earlier than seems natural.
This is something non guitar players might not notice.

My friend and bandmate #DannyGotham was a member of the #RacquetteRiverRounders, a legendary folk and bluegrass act from near Rochester, NY. They return to Saratoga Springs each Boxing Day to perform. During the worst of the pandemic he and John Kribs had me engineer an online show. After some tricky editing to sync their videos, it turned out pretty well!

I’d forgotten how much I love alternating bass lines and other bits that ukes just don’t do.
also, I do the song in “dropped E” tuning. if you’re a guitarist and don’t know how to do that, just ask. it’s easy peasy.

Propik fingertone finger picks. “Best of both worlds” fingerpick tone but feel and control of fleshy fingertips. Wasn’t too keen on the plectrum style thumb pick so swapped over to a Dunlop 94530 thumb pick.
I usually play without them but they’re great for a sharper tone and more volume.

I had always wanted to lay down something in the style of #LesPaul and this was my chance. Danny of course is one of the finest #FingerPicking players in the country. I only have a still shot of Danny during the session but I had the camera rolling when I cut my parts. I’m playing both parts during the breaks.
