In the last couple months running up to an exhibition, I feel the need to paint. A lot. To make sure I have enough paintings in case I suddenly hate a few I previously accepted, and need spares. It's been alternating forest fire paintings and tree paintings for a while now. These details are from two acrylic tree compositions.

A spot of sun today, which inspired me to practice my "set the phone camera timer to 10 seconds and quickly try to look at ease in the garden in a new hat you designed the fabric pattern for" skill. The Oulu University botanical garden is nearby, and the pyramid greenhouses are a favourite of the kids. I used photographs from inside a greenhouse looking out (to the rest of the garden) to paint this composition:

As I've been working on abstracted wildfire and Lapland landscape paintings I've also been using the same shapes and colour palettes to create a fabric design series. The series is titled Ruska, the Finnish word for the fall colour change.
