Northwestern Mediterranean Sea declared as Particular Sensitive Sea Area (PSSA)

It is the first time that the #IMO declares a region a #PSSA because of the high risk of collisions between vessels and endangered whales. Ship strikes pose the major threat to the two endangered whale species inhabiting the Northwestern Mediterranean, of which a significant part is identified as Important Marine Mammal Area (IMMA): #FinWhales and #SpermWhales.
