A #Montreal #firetruck got stuck in what appears to be a pothole of its own making Wednesday afternoon.
According to the city's fire department ( #SIM ), the current theory is that the truck was stopped at a red light when the road caved in under one of its tires.

My friend and I once had an old #firetruck, #dodge #fargo D500 -71. It was powered by 318ci (poly) V8, 4-speed manual transmission and two-speed rear axle. Of course it had #sauna build in the back.. 😎😄
It was a fun truck! 🚒

With last night’s news about a #Tesla hitting a #FireTruck, it’s a good time to repost this #Wired article on why #AutoPilot can’t see them.
tl;dr: because the #ML team at Tesla refuses to learn from 60 years of developing safety critical systems. #DualPhenomenology is a principle that says, “never have just one sensor when lives are involved”. Your $900 iPhone has LIDAR. Why not a $50K Tesla?

I feel like I should lie and tell them yes, it'd probably make the kids night, but I couldn’t, it be some kinda stolen valor shit. Happens about twice a year. The first time, it was approaching midnight at a laundromat, some kid, about 5, stopped sprinting loops around the entieor, right in front of me and said "Hey mister! Are you a fire truck?" It took me a sec to process, and tell him no.
