I just discovered and downloaded Watchduty on my phone and iPad 2 days ago, and boy did my Twitter demise anxiety decrease. #Firetwitter was/is so crucial...Gap Fire, Tea Fire, Thomas Fire...all causing me to evacuate my Santa Barbara and Ojai homes in recent years. I am so grateful to the ham radio folks and others that volunteer to keep us safe and informed. So I was so thrilled to get an alert on my devices today about the Lynn fire!!! @atomicpoet those of us active in disaster response really can't leave twitter entirely. We need the timely, informational tweets of the local weather service, fire agencies and the folks that make up #firetwitter

@JeanTangerine these people are a big part of #firetwitter. If you are in the Napa/Sonoma area it is highly recommended. They have just now rolled it out state wide.

I tried Mastodon about 2 years ago and I had a difficult time making sense of it all. Returning now because... well you know...
