I've got Eero pro 6's now. Tired of Eeros losing internal network bridging when cable modem they're connected to goes down. Also tired of them adding new features only if you pay $9/mo AND rebooting my network whenever they want to in order to update firmware.

Looking at Firewalla and Netgear WAX630 WiFi. Did the Firewalla do everything a normal wifi do?

I recently got a Firewalla Purple their documentation says their on device DNS ad blocking is faster. I currently have been using nextdns for over a year and haven't had any issues but faster is faster. 😁

My network is getting hammered by SSH scanners lately. Possibly checking for CVE-2023-25136. The IP below has sent over 2k flows in a day and Greynoise tags it as an SSH Bruteforcer and worm.
Another IP originating from Russia (92.63.197[.]82) has also sent just over 2k flows. Historical analysis shows it targeting previous SSH vulnerabilities.

Following @alng post about Ring privacy (lack thereof), I took to create strict rules on my #Firewalla for smart home products. A few for the Philips Hue bridge include enforcing geo-filtering and limiting what ingress/egress traffic is allowed.

I finally decommissioned the last piece of #unifi garbage off my home network by replacing my UDMP with a #firewalla, and my phone has been blowing up ever since with “abnormal upload” notifications. Why are my APs sending stuff to Dropbox, hmm?

I also love that #Firewalla has regular user-oriented feature enhancements that make a real difference. Seems like most #OPNsense updates are minor package updates and not much functionality for typical users.

Got my #Firewalla Gold Plus mostly configured. SO MUCH easier than OPNsense, OMG can't even compare. Yes OPNsense has more knobs to tweak and more features, but the usability of Firewalla is in a different universe. Plus the alerts for unusual traffic patterns or new devices is awesome. Strong recommend!

@Adman I’m a fan of #firewalla Purple and Gold units for homes and small businesses that need more than their ISP provided routers but don’t want to manage enterprise gear. I think they get ignored by some but they seem an excellent product.
