And so the dip in #houseprices continues, but, lthose currently unable to afford to buy a house of their own will continue to be frustration about stratospheric house prices in the UK.

Looking at a longer record of house prices as a multiple of average earnings; we need to get back to the multiples prevalent before the 1990s to see more accessibility for #firsttimebuyers.

Hmmm... could the pivotal moment for #housing be the big bang #financialservices deregulation in the 1980s, I wonder?

The UK's #housingcrisis has a number of dimensions including #homelessness and the exploitation/abuse of #renters... but given the #Tories claim to have built a property-owning #democracy, the plight of #firsttimebuyers is also a major problem... how do those in work but their first home when mortgage payments (compounding the massive increase in #energy prices) approach 40% (!!!) of their take-home pay... this just cannot be sustainable!
