Oregon had a historic die-off of fir trees in 2022 that left hillsides once lush with green conifers dotted with patches of red, dead trees. About 1.1 million acres of Oregon forest are affected, the most damage recorded in a single season since surveys began 75 years ago. 🌲

Fir trees in Oregon and Washington died in record-breaking numbers in 2022 with more than 1.23 million acres affected in Oregon and Washington. In Oregon alone, the Forest Service found dead firs on about 1.1 million acres of forest.
This is the largest die-off on record for fir trees in the two states. 🌲
