The video only shows the method and doesn't show results. The research shows that survival chances depend on fish species, gear type, water temperature and weather.

The Special Issue on 'Incentivising the avoidance of unwanted catch' of the #ICES Journal of #marinescience is out.
Proud to have contributed with a paper. We looked at he question: does fisher-led development of more selective #fishing gears lead to better uptake? We show that close involvement of #fishers alone is not enough.

But this is costly and humans are subjective, so one observer may interpret the markings on the fish differently than their colleague on another vessel. Part of this classification could be done automatically using RGB and spectral cameras and AI.” 👇
