The invaders were partly seen off by the women of the town, led by Jemima Nicholas, who’s likeness is honoured in the logo of the yacht club today

Time for a little bit of self-promotion now that I stumbled over the Channel 4 channel (?!) on YouTube and this year's series of 'Britain by Beach'. Word had gotten out that I'd been doing a little bit of research and writing around the 1797 #Fishguard Invasion by the French, and that's how I ended up gesticulating enthusiastically in front of a camera whilst standing on a pebbly, not quite beach in the south-west of #Wales.
