Looking more like frozen soda, this is actually a miniature intaglio portrait of a young boy, possibly Eros (remains of wings can be seen). He clutches two pine-cones, an ear of corn and a leaf, all Dionysian symbols of rebirth.

To usher in the #yearoftherabbit, an exuberantly executed (albeit silent) voluntary played on a pipe organ by this highly-skilled musical rabbit (his canine companion at the bellows). They adorn the lower margin of the Macclesfield Psalter, one of the most richly illuminated manuscripts to survive from fourteenth-century England. In the top lefthand corner, a sleepy dragon, awaits his turn in next year’s Lunar line-up… All image credits to #FitzwilliamMuseum #CambridgeUniversity

DOWN WITH RUMP - as seen at the excellent Defaced exhibition at the Fitzwilliam Museum, Cambridge. The coin was defaced in around 1745 to protest against the Rump Parliament, but it could have been yesterday. #Defaced #FitzwilliamMuseum #Cambridge #Rump #Trump #coins #currency #protest

“BIG BANG 2” – an exploding van, video, banknotes, and bonds – was fascinating to watch/read about. And finishing off with some more #Defaced notes. Overall, I enjoyed it – why not pop along to #FitzwilliamMuseum and see it for yourself? https://www.theguardian.com/artanddesign/2020/sep/15/bank-job-big-bang-theory-blowing-up-transit-van-1m-debt
Earlier I went along to #FitzwilliamMuseum “#Defaced! Money, Conflict, Protest” exhibition. Fascinating for sure.
