So at Repair Cafe this morning I returned a vintage suitcase I repaired in my workshop.

I also repaired:
A table
A lamp
A pressure washer
A stick blender
A bicycle
A garden trolley wheel

And assisted on an electric blanket, and lent tools to other volunteer repairers.

I also brought home a kitchen roll dispenser to repair the concrete base.

It was busy and I might have forgotten other things I had a hand in.

You know, I took two broken sets of headphones -- one with a broken wire, and the other with a broken overhead section -- and made a completely not-broken set of headphones using only a screwdriver.

It was basic stuff but still pleasing.

There's a fine line between #StandingUp for #repressed groups or people, and #fixing things for them.

The first makes space for them to speak and be heard. The second sets you up as the "savior" and takes away their #agency.

It's likely that you will tapdance across that line more than once in your life. When that happens, don't fall on your sword. Just stop, ask someone you intended to help what help they'd like, and give that help if possible.

#BankHolidays are for #fixing. We have had this old filing cabinet in the office for a while, and we knew there was junk down the back. Unable to lure any small-armed urchins to reach back there, I summoned Engineering (a quick search told me there are only a pair of tabs holding the tray to the rails) and managed to get it out without loss of blood or swearing.

Will I get it working, or will I throw it across the shop. Rebuilding the V0.1.

#3DPrinting to the rescue! The bracket of my son's bike horn 🐢 broke today. So I went to #FreeCAD and designed a spare part.

I printed it in medium TPU with 100% infill. This thing will never break again😄
