Dan, about half an hour into the first day of our holiday, carrying the tent, sleeping stuff, cooking stuff, clothes etcetc... while my bag was 3/4 filled with eight day's worth of food. The backpacks got less and less ridiculous every morning, thankfully.

The weather was very changeable that day, one moment bright sunshine and the next heavy showers. The clouds above the mountains seemed to be reaching down to touch them.
This is Rauðufossafjöll (1221m) - the red waterfall mountain - in #Fjallabak Nature Reserve, an area in the southern #Icelandic Highlands.

A couple of times, I've been lucky enough to be working in #Fjallabak in winter. I've never been there in December, but in November 2019 #Landmannalaugar was looking like this with fresh #snow. I couldn't stay this year, but I do miss it sometimes (quite often).
