Fjallsárlón in all it’s glory!
Behind where I was standing is an uphill slope of gravel moraine. It curves around the lagoon and reminds me of the raised seating of a theatre. It’s as if nature has dressed a stage and has invited us to watch its magnificent performance. Bravo!

Fjallsárlón is a special place. This glacial lagoon is not as big nor spectacular as Jökulsárlón, but both times I’ve been it was really quiet - hardly anyone around. You can see so much here, including the ice flow down the mountainside.
I tried to capture the glacier snout with a 300mm lens. I didn’t have a tripod, the light was fading & the lens was heavy, but i was pleased with how it came out 😊

Paddle boarding in amongst the ice at Fjallsárlón, Iceland this June, the last time we used wetsuits (and the only time we used them there - thermal springs helped). A fantastic 5 weeks there and in The Faroes.
