How to write #nixos #flake to open a generated PDF file by a PDF view when trigger #nix-run?

Seemingly indentity an issue with #Nix #flake, #textlive, #darwin-nix on MacOS. Package #gitver won’t work when building flake but the same code works in MacOS shell. What possible reasons?

My best advice for #nixos migration:
so don't use #flake if you don't need it
Don't use #homemanager if you don't need it
Don't use #nixops/#colmena if you don't need it
Don't use ....

Ich fand #Rammstein immer gut, diese Mischung aus #Elektro und #Metal, der Welterfolg mit #Ostbiografie, habe die schon in den 90ern wahrgenommen und die ersten CDs gekauft und habe sie kurz vor meinem Wegzug aus UK erst- (und letzt-)malig in Milton Keynes live gesehen. Leider scheint es, dass es doch 'ne Scheißband ist, die es nicht auf die Reihe kriegt, die Missbrauchsvorwürfe mit (Rest-) Anstand aufzuklären. Es ist kein #Lindemann oder #Flake-Problem mehr, es ist nun ein Rammstein-Problem.

My current issue with #nix, #nixOS and #HomeManager: I think I see their point how they solve some issues I'm facing. I may want to be there but I don't want to invest the energy to actually go there.

Furthermore, there seems to be a chaotic-looking heap of concepts that are hard to initially understand and keep them apart.

If I'd be in my twenties, I may have started with that ecosystem, embracing its style and concepts. 😔

@will #Flake is also something one come across quite a lot when first reading about the #nix ecosystem. I yet have to see what/why/how #flake.

Hey #nix users on #macOS ?

I see there is #nix #darwin out there.
And I read the doc, see HOW to install etc.

But, as with #nix, #flake #homeManager and the like, there is no clear answer to WHY.

I'm looking for real life use case intended for newcomers if you have some!

@chodzikman oh no, no #NixOS for me. They still can't figure out whether or not to have #flake functionality on by default or not. Even in absence of any good arguments for not including them. It's just a mess and "steering" feels like a mess too.

Honestly, if someone will make a typed #nix that's backwards compatible with nixpkgs and flakes, I'm gonna be a happy customer of *that*.

That said, I'm only talking about #nix itself and #nixpkgs. Specifically, nix with flakes.

I experimented with getting a #rust #nixos #flake using the awesome "crane" flake for rust builds to output #github compatible annotations.

I succeeded, but the #githubactions I am using for pushing the annotations to github does not work as expected. 😔
