Visited by a lovely flame skimmer dragonfly (*Libellula saturata****)*** yesterday...
Once they perch on something, it is usually easy to sneak up and take pics -- only got a few good ones because it was just breezy enough to make getting good focus difficult.
They are the only dragonflies I see visit our L.A. yard (other than some occasional blue/green damselflies).

I guess the Flame Skimmers prefer warm water, so they tend to be found in the #Southwest #UnitedStates.

I guess they like to hunt by sitting and waiting for prey, so that is why I tend to get photos of them and not the other varieties around here that hunt while flying.
