Perchè #Linux ha superato il record del 3% delle installazioni globali su PC dopo anni di stagnazione? Io non mi sorprendo, #Gnome nelle ultime versioni ha finalmente creato un ambiente semplice e minimale che non fosse un'ennesima complessa copia di Windows. #Flatpack e #Snap permettono finalmente installazioni delle applicazioni senza complicazioni!
Ultimo colpaccio è stato l'adozione di linux su #SteamDeck nel 2022 che ha portato molta più compatibilità con i giochi 👍

в случае с #Snap ты заходишь в Центр Приложений, нажимаешь обновить. Получаешь ошибку, что приложение открыто. Закрываешь приложение, ждёшь две минуты, повторяешь. Приложение написано, что обновлено. НО иногда оно не обновлено. Потому что после перезагрузки ты получаешь уведомление, что приложение не обновлено 1 сутки...

@slowbyrne @jdeisenberg I don’t use #snappackages. Have heard more controversial things about them then #flatpack.

@rokku @jdeisenberg there is always room for discussion. I hear you on the whole software issue and it is a choice #debian has made that I am not super happy with. Your points about #flatpak are certainly valid. I stick to know software packages from #flatpack and have not experienced any issues. #flatpack repos are well maintained and used/recommended by a lot of well known IT professionals so I feel pretty secure in using them.

@jdeisenberg the one downside to #Debian12 is that it comes with outdated versions of some software including #LibreOffice. This can be solved by installing #flatpack. Do yourself a favor and after you install #Debian12 run through this YouTube video by Jay at #LearnLinuxTV https://youtu.be/K72XJHurdUY

I think I'm old enough to be upset about the madness that #flatpack, #snap etc. are bringing to the #Linux ecosystem.

Seems like the script kiddies have decided to bring the setup.exe craze to Linux.

Why bother with proper package management, why bother keeping dependencies up to date and secure when you can create a huge binary that "just works"?

The "convenience" of developers at the expense of system security, integrity and stability ...

Due to missing #snapd support but usage of #flatpack, the better option according to the *buntu family 🐧

Canonical impedirà che le versioni di :ubuntu: Ubuntu siano dotate di Flatpak preinstallato, perché vuole spingere gli snap.

Una mossa simile a quelle di :windows: Microsoft. Davvero pessima.
