#Gijón levantó el primer monumento al descubridor de la Penicilina, Alexander #Fleming. Se encuentra en el parque Isabel la Católica y fue diseñado por el arquitecto Luis Moya, autor de la Universidad Laboral y por el escultor Manuel Laviada. Se inauguró el 18 de septiembre de 1955 con asistencia de la viuda del científico.

This is my own picture (from the year 2006 or so?) of the #map, you an access it also in black & white online. The South is on the right, you can see Kexholm and Viborg there. (Note the tower of Viborg C) the North is on the left - you can see #Tohmajärvi as if it was a big community, #Oulujärvi and - I think - #Ruka. Enero, pero del año 2004 Muere ⚰️Norman Heatley, boquímico 👨🏻🔬 #inglés 🇬🇧 que resolvió problemas en la extracción de #penicilina 💉y allanó el camino para la producción en masa.
Aunque fue #Fleming 😌quien descubrió accidentalmente la penicilina (1928), fue Heatley quien la hizo práctica👏, produciendo suficiente cantidad en 1941 para sus primeras pruebas clínicas.
Además, desarrolló un método de ensayo🧪 que podía medir con precisión📏 la actividad de una muestra de penicilina, en lo que se conoció como "unidades de Oxford".
Su método de #producción utilizó platos para pasteles, latas para galletas y un recipiente de porcelana llamado orinal😬.
