Here's the latest variant picture for Spain.
A resurgence from XBB.1.5.* "Kraken" (26%) appears to have supressed the new EG.5.* "Eris" variant (19%).
Among the individual XBB.1.5.* "Kraken" sub-lineages, the new "FLip" lineage GK.2 lineage (12%) appears to be driving the recent growth.
GK is an alias for XBB.1.5.70.1. XBB.1.5.70 added the adjacent Spike L455F and F456L mutations, hence the "FLip" tag. GK.2 adds the Spike V511I mutation.

The "FLip" variants seem dominant - XBB.1.5.70 and some of it's GK children.
XBB.1.5.70 added the adjacent Spike L455F and F456L mutations, hence the "FLip" tag.

The leading countries reporting DV.7.1 are Spain (9%) and Israel (4%).
DV.7.1 is from the CH.1.1.* "Orthrus" clan; DV is an alias for CH.1.1.1.1. DV.7 added the Spike L858I mutation, then DV.7.1 added the adjacent L455F and F456L mutations, hence the "FLip" nickname.

Dahinter folgt schon eine #FLip genannte Mutationskombi, die sowohl eine noch stärkere Bindung an den ACE2-Rezeptor als auch eine noch größere Immunflucht mit sich bringt.
Der upgedatete #Booster wäre umso wichtiger. Aber zumindest in den USA scheint sich der bis Oktober zu verzögern.
