This is a long shot, but who knows: do I or my followers know anybody who knows somebody who was in Bavaria in 1954 as a member of the US Army and helped fight the flooding in July?
I know that the 328th Trans BN with its H-19 copters took part in rescue operations, but the US disaster team was about 4000 people.
