We've had more rain in June than in May or April. Now I know how it feels like for the Floret team when they were drenched last year. Dahlia plants loving the rain but so do the slugs and don't have ducks to eat those buggers. It's also been abnormally cool until this week. This will definitely not be a normal growing season.

Not the prettiest but the first #daffodil of the season! It’s mangled because hubby placed a stone plate on the garden bed but it didn't stop the bulbs from growing so hence, the unpretty result. But they're turning out cute!

I just ordered a bunch of Spring bulbs from NZ Bulbs. Feeling good for remembering to do it now instead of waiting 'til the last minute.

I buy flower bulbs every year for me and Mom to plant on Mother's Day, which is admittedly a little late in the season but it's our tradition now and I love that. We divide them up and plant the same ones in her garden and mine. Then in Spring we text each other excitedly when the first flowers come up.

I would say my flower collection last year was eclectic 😂 David Austin Roses (Alnwick, Emily Brontë, Lichfield Angel), random Chinese Aster and dahlias from a variety pack. We’re renters so our garden beds had lots of random flowers including lilies and irises too.

Last year, we grew #cosmos for the first time. I had zero expectations and thought they would only grow up to maybe a foot, but they grew to 4ft and it was some work to keep deadheading such tall plants 🥵 But it was the plant the kept on giving, we had well over 100 blooms from just 5-6 plants! Drought resistant too, thus why I can’t wait to plant the apricotta and pink lemonade varieties! #flowergardening #flowergarden

Only one more month until I start sprouting my flower seeds. I have like a dozen varieties and already overwhelmed with the idea of where/how I’m going to plant them all. First year sprouting any kind of flower from scratch. Already have tulips and narcissus planted last fall. But have cosmos, phlox, ranunculus, anemones, poppies, straw flowers, zinnias and yarrows to sprout too 🤪 #flowergardening #garden #gardening #flowers

Did you know tomatoes have long taproots that are stymied by those dumb six-packs? We handicap them from the get-go. Start them in deep pots! This was the first flower of the Moonbeam Coreopsis in the deck garden last spring. I couldn't wait, because I missed the delicate, pale yellow flowers from the old birdbath garden. It's nice in combination with purple Angelica. #FlowerGardening #DeckGardening #gardens #gardening
