@alltheoatmeal I played about 10 minutes and liked it a lot... tunes to A and D instead of G and C; the neck is a couple frets shorter, which my old left rotator cuff likes. Most #fiddlers leading #oldtime jams in #FloydVa for the dozen years I've been going tend to stay in A & D (the local D'n'A), but lately there are a few who detour into G. I'm not sure what the players with shorter banjos do about that -- slack the strings down to G, take a coffee break, or maybe grab their other #banjo?

@automattack ... I was in the Triangle '94-'99, still friends there; last visited for a Nellie McKay show in Carrboro 10 mo ago. I go to the HoppinJohn Festival, but skipped '22 because of illness.

Triangle Coincidence: Guitar repairman Mike Kovick, who worked on one of mine in '97 in Durham moved up here to #FloydVa in #swVa before I did, worked on my other guitar in 2008, replacing a bridge he had predicted would need it eventually.

@gentlegardener @TheConversationUS I ran into him in #FloydVa once or twice during his election campaigns, I think, and I visit his websites now and then, but never see him in regional news media.
Sad that he couldn't get visibility & traction in sw Virginia 9th, which had no Democrat candidate in 2020 and a young newcomer this year with good ideas, but no base. (Taysha DeVaughan lost 73.5 to 26.5, about 10 points worse than Flaccavento did, carried only one county and one city of 29.)

I've just been here for a few days, experimenting with hashtags a little differently than on Fb or birdapp -- to find old #newspaper #CommSchool and #OldtimeMusic friends and #swVa #swVirginia #FloydVa #RadfordVa #NewRiverValley neighbors.
