As some states look to loosen the limitations on #childlabor, they may walk right into the Federal Fair Labor Standards Act #FLSA While the Federal child labor rules leave something to be desired, they may block some of the more egregious state actions. Today #SCOTUS issued a new Fair Labor Standards Act opinion in the case of Helix Energy Solutions Group, Inc. v. Hewitt, holding that certain highly paid workers who are paid by the day are entitled to overtime pay if they work more than 40 hours a week.
Note the 6-3 majority makeup of Justices Kagan, Roberts, Thomas, Sotomayor, Barrett, and Jackson.

There are already myriad ways for employers to get around the 40-hour workweek standard.
What's more annoying is that all of the legal escape clauses in the #FLSA aren't enough for #Musk and his ilk. They also demand that the hard-fought wins of the 20th century #labor movement be seen as *morally wrong,* and contrary to what's needed for employees to receive a "passing grade."
