@miah I'm really happy with my fluxbox configuration. I have a bunch of specialized key-combos for switching between types of windows, auto-grouping of terminals and editors, etc. Although, Gnome keeps making it harder to run Gnome apps outside of Gnome...

I've fantasized about writing my own FluxBox clone for Wayland in Crystal, but I don't have the time and wouldn't know where to start. Although, FluxBox is mostly C++ so porting it to Crystal should be easy.

@josephholsten @stu In the past I also used #Fluxbox and #Openbox, lightweight and highly configurable Window Manager and I really loved them #windowmanager #wm

Wanting to try #fluxbox. I realize that I can get it on many distributions but does anyone have a suggestion for a #fluxbox focused #linuxdistro ? Something like #bunsenlabs and #openbox
#fluxbox #linuxdistro #bunsenlabs #openbox
It's the stupid little things.
I loved it back in my #fluxbox days when I was able to move windows by alt+mouseclick and I've missed this feature in the last few years. Today I accidentally used the "windows" button on the keyboard instead of the alt key (muscle memory when trying to move windows around) and it actually worked!
Now I know it's common knowledge that the meta/Windows key does this by default in most WM/DEs and Fluxbox was the odd one out. =D
Yep, and #OpenBox isn't a bad choice either. If you've used #Raspbian's default desktop, then you've used OpenBox: as that's the window manager they use (part of the #LXDE desktop).
Another good one I've used in the past is #FluxBox -- one feature I like about it is that you can group windows from disparate applications into a single tabbed window by dragging the title with the right mouse button.

Just curious ...
What Desktop Enviroment (DE) or window manager (WM) do you use on #Linux? Why?
I'm almost always on #Fluxbox, but started out (way back when) with #KDE (1 point something). Fluxbox has tabbed windows, plain text configs, and just plain stays out of my way.
#XFCE is for computers I support that others use.
X window managers, the light versions.
I like IceWM that is used as default X manger for Antix :)

I found these and seem a more complete solution than #Ratpoison or #StumpWM that are too much spartan. #linux

Configurar root-tail y gkrellm en Fluxbox
Since being back home working full time again in #debian / #fluxbox (yeah, you read that right) I've remembered how awesome it is to be able to move windows nested behind the ones in the foreground, such as print dialog in front of preview. As you may know, Windows often times will disallow you moving parent windows unless you back out of the child. I always found that super annoying and necessary.. but I'm sure there's a reason? Maybe? Oh well, I don't care anymore =p~
@Joseph_of_Earth Iz depends? In the past 20 years I’ve run #XFCE, #Fluxbox and #IceWM more than Gnome or KDE. What’s the Ubuntu desktop now called? That should be pretty popular as well…
