Wife's flight was scheduled for 5:40pm. After checking in at about 3:45 and getting a boarding pass, we were notified it was running late at 6:30pm, boarding at 6:10pm. OK no problem. I headed home.

At approximately 4:45 pm, it was cancelled. She got moved to a "partner airline" which had a flight at 9:10pm. This time has also been pushed back multiple times.

She's still sitting at the gate & the estimated time to leave is 12:30am CDT, July 6th. She will have been in the departure airport 9 hours with nothing to show for it except a boarding pass, and checked bags.

What are the rules for today's flight for carry-ons/packed baggage? Are you going to be selected for "special inspection"? I hope you don't have problems with random "security" agents seeing you nude in the scanner. Wil you get bumped off a flight and only offered "miles" with 10,000 restrictions of usage & expiration on them? Will someone harass you for using a mask? Will you catch covid? Will someone disrupt the flight? Will someone throw back the seat and smash my kneecaps? Will I have to check my (paid-for) carry-on because there is no space? Will I be stuck in boarding/on-the ground for hours waiting for takeoff in a cabin with CO2 > 2000 where I feel like I'm going to pass out? Will someone be bringing on a small dog I'm allergic to? Will my luggage be lost?

I only fly when I have no other choice (eg: far away foreign country).

It's time to reign in the airlines with actual rules & compensantion for passengers. Airports need to stop running at max capacity. Mask rules need to come back. Seat space needs to be increased, especially shoulder width! Security needs to be standardized. Real compensation & penalties need to be instituted against airlines that don't live up to their promises. Security needs to be standardized. I shouldn't be arbitrarily asked my security "Do you want to fly today?" because I look at them wrong.
