It's too hot to do much birding outside here in the Manhattan KS area, but the birdbath on the back deck has been fun to watch. Here is a young (hatched this spring or summer) Summer Tanager coming in for a drink. It is in active molt; I've included a closeup of the white feather sheaths protecting those new feathers as they grow in.
