You know what a batsman can’t hit for six? A yorker. Why are they just offering up balls that have written on them ‘hit me for six’ …

I suppose people probably don't realize that these types of movement issues exist. Most of the time when you see people in media with a movement based disability it's a person with partial paralysis that uses a wheelchair. We need other types of disabilities in media.

I was so happy when I saw because there is a character that uses a crutch like me. It helped me come to terms with my disability and gave me hope going forward.

I can normally lift them enough to walk on flat ground and have a cane if the flare up is really bad. Stairs are tiring, but I can manage as long as I have my cane or railing to push down on and brace with. But ramps are impossible. On flat ground you can get away with shuffling your feet, but ramps require you to lift your legs up. I have to treat them as a staircase with a lot of tiny steps and it's so tiring.

I don't think enough people realize that accommodations are not one size fits all. People generally recognize that if there are stairs they need a ramp for users. But I hate when I go somewhere that's filled with ramps and no stairs (looking at you, ). Ramps are the hardest thing to manage with my particular . When my flares up it weakens parts of my legs and makes it much harder to lift my feet off the ground.

While I don't miss driving, I miss having the ability to drive others where they need to go. When my is acting up it's not safe for me to drive. And since I can't 100% predict when I'm going to have a flare up, I've just started assuming I can't drive if someone asks me for a ride on a future date. At least I can still use an electric scooter to get to places nearby and my area has decent public transit if I need to go further.

Almost as fun as having to explain the disability to people that normally see me walking fine when I have a flare up.

Not sarcasm:
I don't blame people for asking why I'm suddenly using a partially deconstructed forearm crutch as a cane, most of the time they assume I sprained a muscle or something. But it gets so tiring to explain sometimes. Especially when you have to decide whether to mention that the biggest trigger is stress.
