THROWBACK THURSDAY ART
Postwar Modern Exhibition at the Barbican March-June 2022. This monumental exhibition was an extraordinary homage to artists, many non-white, many of whom emigrated to Great Britain shortly after the War to make a life of art in the country that had colonised their own. Curator Jane Alison's eye was visionary.
My father F.N. Souza's art can be seen at 0'57" and in the final shot of the video.

Should I listen to Harry Potter à l'École des Sorciers to revive my French?
The young art historian reseaching my father (F.N. Souza) to write a monograph told me he listened to the books in French to bring back his understanding of the language.
He also told me his theories of where he thought Rowling was wrong in sorting Harry into Gryffindor instead of Slytherin. I believe I won my side of the debate against his eroneous thinking.

On the wall, watercolour and gouache titled Ave Maria, by my father, F.N. Souza, who pioneered post-Independence modern Indian art with five other artists who formed the Progressive Artists Group in then Bombay in 1947. He is also considered an important British artist during the post-war years 1945-1965.
